Akatech Business Intelligent ("Akatech BI", "we", "our", "us") is a software-as-a-service company registered in Nigeria. We provide an inventory management and sales tracking platform accessible at akatechbi.com and through our mobile-compatible web application.

2. Data We Collect

We collect information in the following categories:

We do not collect your customers' personal data unless you voluntarily enter customer names into the sales records.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data solely to operate and improve the Akatech BI service:

• Account management — Creating and maintaining your account, verifying your identity, and processing subscriptions.
• Service delivery — Storing and displaying your inventory, sales, and reports within the platform.
• Customer support — Responding to support requests and troubleshooting issues using your account data.
• Security — Detecting fraud, unauthorised access, and protecting your account.
• Service improvement — Aggregated, anonymised usage statistics help us improve the product. We never use individual business data for this.
• Communications — Sending critical service notifications, subscription renewals, and product updates. You can opt out of marketing emails at any time.

We never sell your personal or business data to third parties, advertisers, or data brokers.

4. Data Sharing

We share your data only with the following trusted third parties, and only as necessary to operate the service:

We may disclose data if required by Nigerian law, court order, or to prevent fraud or illegal activity. We will notify you where legally permitted to do so.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

• All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using TLS (HTTPS).
• Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored in plain text.
• Database backups are encrypted and stored securely.
• Access to production systems is restricted to authorised personnel only.
• Regular security reviews and vulnerability assessments are conducted.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account:

• Your business data (products, sales, reports) is permanently deleted within 30 days.
• Payment records are retained for 7 years as required by Nigerian financial regulations.
• Anonymised, aggregated statistics may be retained indefinitely.

You can request deletion of your data at any time by emailing privacy@akatechbi.com.

7. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access — Request a copy of all data we hold about you.
• Correction — Update or correct inaccurate data through Settings or by contacting us.
• Deletion — Request deletion of your account and all associated data.
• Data portability — Export your inventory and sales data in CSV format at any time from the dashboard.
• Opt-out — Unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any email we send.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@akatechbi.com with your request and account email address. We will respond within 5 business days.

8. Cookies

Akatech BI uses minimal cookies:

• Session cookies — Used to keep you logged in during your session. These expire when you close your browser or log out.
• Preference cookies — Store your UI preferences (e.g., page size, sort order). These last 30 days.

We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but this may affect the functionality of the application.

9. Children's Privacy

Akatech BI is a business software platform intended for adults operating registered businesses. We do not knowingly collect data from individuals under the age of 18. If you believe a minor has registered, please contact us at privacy@akatechbi.com and we will investigate and delete the account.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will:

• Send an in-app notification to all users at least 7 days before the changes take effect.
• Send an email notification to the registered email address on your account.
• Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

Continued use of Akatech BI after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
